Instant orthodontics have the unique ability to fix numerous flaws all at the same time to give you a stunning smile, which is a feat even braces can’t beat.

Instant orthodontics is another name for porcelain veneers, which are thin porcelain shells that are applied to the front of your teeth to visually straighten them, as if you had worn braces. But porcelain veneers go a step further than just correcting misalignment. Not only can veneers cosmetically straighten your teeth, they can also hide misshapen teeth to give you an attractive, symmetrical smile. Braces can do nothing to alter uneven or misshapen teeth. Veneers can also make your smile whiter and brighter by hiding discolored teeth, another job braces can’t tackle.

If your smile has problems with alignment, discoloration, or misshapen teeth, you may want to consider porcelain veneers, which can solve all your problems at once.

Cosmetic dentist Charles Sutherland in Houston offers instant orthodontics for a whiter and more symmetrical smile, a transformation that is not possible with braces alone. Porcelain veneers look and feel like your real teeth and are also durable. With proper maintenance, they can last 10 years or longer.

Good Candidates

If you are unhappy with your smile and your teeth have a number of cosmetic problems, then instant orthodontics might be the right choice for you. Both braces and porcelain veneers can treat misalignment. However, unlike braces, veneers can also improve:

  • Tooth symmetry
  • Uneven teeth
  • Discoloration
  • Tooth shape

The best candidates for veneers have only a slight misalignment of their teeth. If you have serious alignment issues, then you may need to consider traditional braces or the newer, and more comfortable, Invisalign®aligner trays.  Dr. Sutherland would be happy to recommend the treatment best suited for your problems.

The Process

Porcelain veneers are thin porcelain shells that are bonded to the front of your teeth. The surface of your tooth is prepared by removing a very thin layer of enamel. Then, an impression is taken of the prepared teeth that will be used as the model for your custom-crafted veneers. While the veneers are being prepared in a dental laboratory, temporary veneers are applied to your teeth. On a return visit, the permanent veneers will be attached.

Things to Consider

Instant orthodontics can give you a stunning smile in just a few office visits, which allows you to skip the discomfort and lengthy treatment period required by braces. However, you should note that getting porcelain veneers requires another sort of commitment: The process is irreversible.

Once you get veneers you will always need veneers and they will periodically require maintenance. Over time, veneers can break or chip and will probably need to be replaced.

If you are considering instant orthodontics, you should schedule a personal consultation to learn if veneers can solve your problems and to discuss the pros and cons of instant orthodontics.

We would be happy to assess your teeth and give you the information you need to make an informed choice. Please call today for an appointment.
